In this article, we\u2019ll break down possible reasons for gum bumps and how to know when they require urgent dental attention<\/a>.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

It Could Be a Dental Abscess<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One possible cause of a gum bump is a dental abscess, which develops when bacteria cause an infection around a tooth or in the surrounding gum tissue. An abscess may appear as a swollen, pimple-like bump that contains pus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other symptoms can include throbbing tooth pain, gum tenderness, facial swelling, a bad taste in your mouth, or fever. However, an abscess can sometimes develop with little or no pain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
