Why Choose Preston Bend Dental for Veneers?

What Are Dental Veneers?

Dental veneers, also known as porcelain veneers, are ultra-thin layers of dental porcelain adhesively bonded to the front-facing surface of your teeth. For each tooth, our skilled cosmetic dental lab creates a veneer that is the perfect size, shape, and color for your unique features. Together, these veneers create your natural smile… only better! Plus, several cosmetic flaws can be corrected with porcelain veneers, including:

The Process of Getting Veneers

The road to a more beautiful smile begins with an examination and consultation with Dr. Madhav. She will want to examine your teeth and gums to make sure there aren’t any problems, such as a cavity or gum disease, that need to be taken care of before you receive veneers. Once your optimal oral health is certain, you and Dr. Madhav will discuss your smile goals. Within the parameters of what would look best for your unique facial features, we’ll be glad to listen to what you think constitutes a beautiful smile.

To ensure a perfect fit, the process of creating porcelain veneers begins with digital X-rays, photographs, and impressions of your mouth and teeth. Our dental lab will need these in order to create custom veneers that are just the right size and fit for you. Then, Dr. Madhav will gently administer a local anesthetic and remove a small amount of the enamel layer from each tooth that will receive a veneer. The amount removed is approximately equal to the thickness of the veneers. This is done to make sure your porcelain veneers lay evenly with your other teeth.

Once your teeth are prepped, another impression is taken and sent to the lab so they can create veneers that fit your altered teeth and your mouth. While the lab fabricates your custom veneers, we’ll give you temporary veneers to wear.

Your veneers usually arrive in our Plano dental office a couple of weeks after your first appointment. Dr. Madhav will double-check each one to be certain your veneers fit properly and match your natural teeth. Then, she will use dental cement to adhesively bond your veneers into place. A special curing light is directed on each veneer to quickly harden the cement. When the procedure is finished, you’ll have a brand-new smile to confidently reveal!

The Benefits of Veneers

Normally, addressing misshapen, spaced-out, discolored, and otherwise imperfect teeth would require separate, back-to-back treatments. With porcelain veneers, however, you can conceal these dental flaws, skipping all other services in the process. Furthermore, each veneer is completely customized to your specific smile goals, and we may be able to transform your smile in three visits or less! Of course, there are several other noteworthy benefits, including the fact that veneers are stain-resistant, so don’t hesitate to ask our team about the other perks of veneers during your consultation.

Understanding the Cost of Veneers

Like most things, the quality of veneers usually matches the price you pay. Opting for the most affordable option might not give you the best results. If you want a gorgeous and long-lasting smile, it's worth investing wisely. Choosing the right cosmetic service is crucial to ensure you get the results you want. Cost vs. Cosmetic Dentistry: What’s Right for Me?

We have a range of cosmetic services at different prices, each offering unique benefits for your smile:

  • Invisalign – Ideal for patients wanting to address crooked, overcrowded, or spaced-out teeth. The cost is typically between $5,000 and $6,000. Keep in mind that while braces enhance alignment, they don't improve tooth shape or color.
  • Cosmetic Dental Bonding – This is an excellent choice for those wanting to correct minor imperfections in a single appointment. We’ll use tooth-colored resin to reshape slightly chipped teeth. However, this service requires touch-ups every few years, and it’s not suitable for major changes.
  • Teeth Whitening – If you want to brighten your smile quickly, teeth whitening is a wonderful option to consider. Most people see results in one visit, but effects may fade in around 3 months. It’s worth noting that this treatment doesn't address tooth size, shape, or alignment.
  • Veneers – This option is the ideal comprehensive smile transformation for crooked, cracked, chipped, misshapen, or discolored teeth. They’ll help conceal the entire front surfaces of your teeth. One significant benefit is that you can achieve your dream results in as little as two appointments.

How to Make Veneers Affordable

Typically, dental insurance doesn't cover veneers in Plano as they are considered elective. However, we're dedicated to making quality dentistry affordable. We collaborate with third-party financiers like CareCredit which offers a monthly payment plan tailored to your needs. Best of all, you may be eligible for low-to-no interest fees. Veneers FAQs

Have questions about veneers in Plano? Don’t worry! Many individuals who are considering these custom restorations to transform their appearance tend to wonder if it’s worth the investment and how life will be once their veneers are firmly in place. At Preston Bend Dental, you can expect our team to answer all of your questions, as this is our way of making sure you are fully informed about your chosen treatment so that all you need to think about are the results.

How long can I expect my veneers to last?

Although veneers are considered a permanent cosmetic solution, the restorations themselves are not. Because a small amount of tooth enamel must be removed, you cannot reverse the process, which is why it’s imperative that you take proper care of your veneers. In most cases, these restorations can last 10-20 years, but you may find that you need new ones sooner if you do not go the extra mile to keep your investment in the best possible shape.

How are veneers different from dental crowns?

Veneers and dental crowns are both commonly made from porcelain because of their lifelike appearance; however, unlike dental crowns that fit over the entire tooth crown, veneers only cover the front surfaces of teeth. This leaves the backsides vulnerable to possible decay. Also, a crown is generally used to protect a damaged tooth, while veneers can conceal minor cosmetic flaws to produce a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Another substantial difference between the two is that dental crowns require complete altering of the natural tooth, whereas veneers only need a small amount of enamel to be removed from the front surface.

What should I do to take proper care of my veneers?

While wearing veneers, you’ll need to adopt some healthy habits to ensure that you do not throw your investment away. You can:

  • Practice improved oral hygiene habits at home so that you do not develop tooth decay or cavities.
  • Keep your six-month checkups and cleanings with our team at Preston Bend Dental.
  • Wear proper mouth protection should you decide to play sports.
  • Wear a custom nightguard if you are prone to grinding or clenching your teeth.
  • Eat healthy foods that are not full of sugars and starches, as they can lead to tooth decay.
  • Limit your exposure to darkly pigmented beverages and foods.
  • Give up unhealthy habits like smoking and tobacco use.

Will dental insurance cover my veneer treatment?

It is highly unlikely that your dental insurance company will pay for veneer treatment, especially since it is viewed as a cosmetic procedure. However, at Preston Bend Dental, we are pleased to offer third-party financing as well as interest-free payment plans so that you do not have to worry so much about the financial obligations that come with cosmetic treatment. Instead, you can create a budget and focus more on the results you will achieve with beautiful, customized veneers.
